Kim Lee

I started Mawney Accountancy; a Romford based accountancy practice to offer accounting and taxation services to small and medium sized companies; I wanted to be my own boss and achieve a better work life balance. I have over 30 years’ business experience and have an industry background with both small companies and large corporate entities.

I completed my training as an accountant whilst working for a manufacturing company and after qualification became a full member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). I was appointed Divisional Financial Accountant and a member of the strategic management team.

Following the birth of my first child I left full time employment to be able to spend more time with my daughter. At this time I began working with a construction company with responsibility for all the accountancy and taxation needs for this growing business.

I am passionate about learning and trained as a lecturer after which I worked part time in a further education college teaching Accounts and Taxation. I was appointed Curriculum Team Leader and in this role I led a 13% improvement in qualification success.

After over a decade teaching it was time for a new venture and the idea of starting an accountancy practice was formed. The plan was to build a different style of accountancy business; passionate about finding the right solutions for businesses whilst minimising the amount of time spent on accounting tasks and giving business owners real insight into their businesses through smart financial systems, utilising Apps and Software that automate many accountancy processes.

In addition to being a member of CIMA, I am a member of the Association Taxation Technicians, have a Certificate in Education, and a Certificate in Counselling Skills (BACP) – I actively listen to what a business needs.

I work with clients from a range of organisations that includes limited companies, community interest companies, sole traders, trades and entrepreneurs and of course women in business.
